Good bye my little princess

My little Louloute, so precious, I found you on the street. I was coming back home from work and we nearly drove on you. Luckily, the driver broke hard. I got out of the car and I softly called you. You were scared and it took you 15 minutes to approach me. I caught you and held you in my arms. You were abandonned, shivering and I could see the distress in your eyes. You were a little dirty but most of all you were hungry as hell. I still do remember how you jumped on the food and the quantity you swallowed. I really was impressed and I was wondering where you could put all that food. For a moment I thought you were going to be sick and vomit everything. But you kept it all.

While you were eating, Whitesoak and Chouchou were wondering who you were. They didn't look angry, just curious by your presence and to see that another cat was emptying their bowls of food.

Then, a little war began between the both of us. I gave you a bath and it wasn't easy. You gave me such a hard time that the bathroom seemed to have turned into an ocean and I was as wet as you were. When you were cleaned, I introduced you to Whitesoak and Chouchou. You started to hiss at them and Whitesoak hissed back. As weeks passed by you got closer to Chouchou. Between Whitesoak and you, it wasn't the big love. You tolerated each other and that was it. Was it female competition? Jealousy? I'll never know.

You've always miaouwed for my attention and you were eating at all times and everything that passed under your nose: my fries, my vegetables, my salads, EVERYTHING!!! You've stolen my ex-boyfriend's meat as soon as he was turning its back. Instead of punishing you, I was laughing. And when you were caught you always took an innocent look.

Although you were eating all the time, you've always stayed very thin. You spent your time grooming yourself, you were always standing right, your head was slightly and pretentiously raised, like a snob little person. But I suppose it is my imagination because that's the way I've always seen you. But I sometimes wonder if it is my imagination. Often, you took a piece of food with one claw, sniffed it and then only ate it.

When we move out, you really got me on my nerves with your miaouws. I practically lived like a recluse for three weeks with Whitesoak, Chouchou and yourself so that you would not feel abandonned. But for a few months, you seemed lost, scared and I tried as hard as I could to reassure you.

A few months later you were in heat and you were running after Chouchou, or was it Chouchou who was courtshipping you? I realized that I forgot to neuter you as I was myself ill and I had to stay in bed. Oh, well, a litter couldn't harm you.

In April 2001, you gave birth to a litter of 5 kittens. They all looked like Chouchou and yourself. At first, it wasn't easy to recognize them but I got used to it. And you, you made my life hard: you simply refused to take care of the kittens. I had to call the vet for some advices. Every four hours, I forced you to feed your babies. For that matter, I was locking ourselves in the room where the kittens were. I cleaned them the way the vet told me and I patiently waited that you nursed your babies. Even if it asked me a lot of time, a lot of patient, I have to admit that I quite enjoyed playing the kitty-mum.

After six weeks, they started to run everywhere and at that moment, you tried to catch them to bring them back in their basket but to no avail: they were discovering their world, they began to eat can food, except for one: Flaubert. Like mother, like son. He was eating human food!

When they were 12 weeks old, they were adopted by friends of mine. I was a little heart-broken as I had to take care of them but it was the best thing. I could not keep them. I only kept Flaubert as he demanded so much attention and special care that I thought no one would have the time or the courage to take care of him.  You were happy that he stayed. You played with him and you spent more time in his company than at its birth. Meanwhile, I asked the vet to neuter you but it was too late: you were pregnant as you could not be operated while you were nursing the kittens. For your second litter, you gave birth to six kittens and this time you knew how to take  care of them and I was very proud of you.

After their adoption, you went to the vet as well as Chouchou. No more kittens! After your operation, you totally changed. You spent more time with Whitesoak, you went less often outside, you came more often at my side. You became a little princess more sociable.

My little Louloute, you were not always easy to love, but I don't regret anything because I love you just the way you are. You'll leave with BlackJack. I'm happy you will have a companion so you won't be alone in your new home. I know my friend will love you and I hope you won't be too snob to her.

I love you my little princess and even if some moments with you were hard, today they are wonderful souvenirs.
